This one was actually pretty good. Not amazing, but I enjoyed it well enough. It has a great concept, and as good as the idea is, it was a bit disappointment, but for me to dislike it entirely. It’s about a high school girl named Sunao Aikawa. When she was a little girl her subconscious basically split her into two different people to deal with the stress of life, her “kind” half and her “stoic” half. She has the other half of her, called a replica, go to school for her. However as time goes on she starts to miss living her own life. The ... theme of this anime is how it’s important to live your own life, that it can be tough sometimes, but it’s important and will ultimately bring her happiness. And while I don’t think the execution was incredible, I still enjoyed it for the most part. We see the replica, Nao, interact with classmates, and fall in love with a boy named Shuuya Sanada. Their interactions are really cute and wholesome. The ending was kind of sad too, because it concludes with Suano and Nao fusing back together, which seems to end Nao’s relationship with Shuuya. The ending might imply that Sunao and Shuuya getting closer and thus may get together later, but I’m not entirely certain about that, it’s kind of vague. And that’s one of my few complaints with the series. Another issue I had was that the pacing was a bit fast. Not so much that I wasn’t able to like it, but it was slightly noticeable. But honestly I’ve been watching a lot of bad anime lately, so one that’s not great but is still enjoyable is a plus in my book. I also really enjoyed Suano’s and Nao’s relationship with each other. Even though they’re two sides of the same being, they kind of had a wholesome sisterly relationship a lot of the times, which is another reason why the ending was kind of sad.

I really wanted to like this one, but it just didn’t work for me. The only remotely interesting character is Eren Yamagishi, but I didn’t like her overall because of how overly melodramatic that she is. I know that might sound like a weird complaint at first glance because anime is kind of known for being melodramatic, but this just takes it way too far honestly. The way she acts is as if her parents were murdered and she’s seeking revenge, not a frustrated artist, which is what she actually is. And like I said, none of the other characters even attempt to be interesting. ... I saw some reviews say that all of the characters are unlikable, but at first I would have only agreed with that with Eren. Again, not for traditional reasons, but because how over the top they take her makes it impossible for me to like her. But in the second half of the show, yeah, a LOT of characters are introduced that are profoundly unlikable, for no fucking reason. Having a cast of unlikable characters can work, but uh...let’s just say this series is no Game of Thrones. It’s not even budget Masamune-kun’s Revenge either. It’s something below even that designation. There’s also way too many timeskips throughout the anime. It makes it impossible for me to care about what’s going on when we only get a little bit in the present, almost no fleshing out of the characters or themes, then it cuts a head a year or more. Hell, there are times when we get multiple major timeskips in a single episode. The only somewhat unique or interesting thing about this anime is that the brooding, emo, asshole character is usually filled by a dude, in this case it’s a chick, but that’s a pretty minor change honestly.

This is another one of those anime that seems like it’s trying to capitalize on the enduring popularity of the Symphogear franchise. I think it’s kind of funny that I’ve seen several of the knockoffs but I have yet to actually watch Symphogear. And this one isn’t very good. Some reviews have called it terrible, but I don’t necessarily agree with that, it’s just boring. Episode 1 was kind of fun. While the characters aren’t that interesting, the animation was incredible and the fights intense. I was thinking it would end up being a pretty good popcorn anime, nothing incredible but a worthy time waster. ... However the rest of the series never has anything that entertaining ever again. They seriously clickbaited me. I’m kind of angry about it actually, just a little bit. So I can’t even give it those accolades like I was hoping to. After that the only consistent good qualities that I can give to it is that the singing is fine, even if the songs themselves are a bit generic, and the series does still look mostly nice even if the animation never reaches the heights of episode 1 again. The thing is if this is someone’s first ever anime they’ll probably enjoy it, and I couldn’t even critique them for that. But it doesn’t do anything for someone like me who’s seen over 4,000 anime. The characters are cute and aren’t unlikable, but they’re not interesting. The animation and art is fine for the most part, but it never again reaches the heights of the first episode. The singing is fine but not great and even if it was that wouldn’t save the series for me obviously.

I’ve found one of the strangest titles in anime I’ve seen in awhile. And the show is just as strange. And not necessarily in a good way. So this anime isn’t terrible, it was just kind of dull and a bit too weird for me. It’s about a sentient penguin named Kujima who speaks Russian who befriends a high school boy named Arata Kouda. It’s largely a slice of life, almost Iyashikei, but I didn’t find it very soothing. Not because it’s stressful, just because it’s boring. The humor dind’t really vibe with me, but then again I’ve always found anime humor to be pretty ... hit or miss, Kujima is boring at best and gross at worse, and none of the characters were that interesting so I also couldn’t care about any of the few moments that tried to tug at our heartstrings.

This is one of the worst anime of the Spring 2026 anime season. It’s not offensively bad, it’s just nothing I haven’t seen before with absolutely no heart in the writing. It’s a fantasy story where the MC is overpowered and he fights monsters, he’s betrayed by his party, with a bit of Arifureta edginess in the way he becomes overpowered. The only SLIGHT silver lining here is that they do explain how he got overpowered, but that doesn’t really amount for much in my opinion when the characters are shallow and uninteresting, the fights are not very engaging, the animation is terrible—somehow not the ... worst I’ve ever seen, but that’s not in any way a compliment—and it’s just overall extremely boring and dull. I have nothing else to say about this anime other than that.

This is one of those anime that isn’t incredible, but is enjoyable why you’re watching it. It follows a high school maid named Suzume Tachibana, although the fact that she is a maid is barely relevant. She wears a maid costume all the time, and she’s even called a maid a few times, but we never, or almost never, see her do any actual traditional maid work. It’s pretty much just a normal romantic comedy, emphasis on the comedy, anime where the protagonist happens to be wearing a maid outfit. It gives us 12 straight episodes of adorable, wholesome, and likable antics. Her friendship with ... Nana Komatsu and Ricotta Fresca are wholesome, and so is her budding romance with Sora Endou, although like I said previously the romance isn’t the main focus, not even close. It’s there, but this is an anime that you watch if you want to see something cute and wholesome, and maybe a tad funny or humorous at times. It wasn’t super emotional, it isn’t plot heavy, but it was a nice, almost iyashikei-ish watch that just made me feel good, and man I tell you, right now, I think we could all use that.

I was a bit surprised by this anime that I didn’t find it insanely boring. It’s a reverse harem, which means it’s not made for me a 32 year old straight man, but I still found myself strangely charmed by this little show. It’s not incredible, nowhere close to being a masterpiece, but I still thought it was somewhat enjoyable. It’s about Rinko Nakama, a huge fan of anime and manga as well as an aspiring manga author. She soon learns that she lives between Akito Satsuki and Haruma Usada in her apartment. They both have different personalities: Akito is soft spoken, gentle, and kind, ... whereas Haruma is loud and short tempered. Although both of them are capable of yelling at each other when they’re fighting over Rinko. On the surface this series isn’t that different from a typical reverse harem anime, but it’s not boring, that’s the point. It’s not great, but the characters are likable, there interactions are fun and fairly entertaining, and I’m overall glad that I watched it. The pretending to be your boyfriend trope, which Rinko did with Akito, is pretty overdone in romance in general, but it still wasn’t bad though.

I’m probably not the best person to review this anime because it’s a mystery anime. If you’ve seen enough of my reviews then you’re probably aware that I don’t like pure mystery anime. If you haven’t...I don’t like pure mystery anime. I’m fine with an anime has a mysteyr in it, but if the mystery is the only draw for it, then it’s going to be boring until the reveal happens, and the reveal is probably going to be disappointing in and of itself too. If an anime is solely about the mystery, then the writer would have to put effort into making the characters ... interesting, or having great comedy to pull me through. Unfortunately, this one has neither. I read some reviews before watching that said the characters are irritating. I didn’t get that personally from the main two, they’re just boring to me, but I can kind of understand that from certain side characters, especially later on in the series. The title made me think of The Detective Is Already Dead. Sadly that series is much better than this. And I didn’t even think that anime was great, it was just kind of okay, but that still makes it miles better than whatever this was.

This is one of the most unique and enjoyable anime I’ve seen in awhile. It’s an Isekai, but it’s a really funny and original one. It starts with the main male character, Ore, in a dog costume and acting like a dog outside in the middle of the street for everybody to see. We see that this is because of a strange woman who’s giving him instructions using her phone. I’m not sure if he’s somehow willingly obeying these instructions even though he never looks at his own phone or if she’s magically controlling him with hers, but either way he’s very happy about ... this. Later on in the first episode it’s revealed that this is an attractive woman, who has a boyfriend, and they’re basically just toying with him. Anyways this opening segment ends with them tricking Ore into getting hit by a bus, and then he gets stuck by a fucking meteor and dies. He meets a Goddess, like usual, and gets reincarnated as the rib of the hero—interesting choice—but it doesn’t take long before he dies again. He claims that it was great for awhile, and that he had a harem and whatnot, but that it ended badly for him, although they leave it up to our imagination how it ended badly. The vast majority of the series is spent with Ore and Goddess interacting with each other in the Goddess’ realm. He frequently gets reincarnated, but it always ends badly for him and he winds up right back in the Goddess’ realm.

The segments with him being reincarnated frequently have unique art and animation styles, and a couple of them even use live action footage. It’s super original and fun to watch for that reason alone, but it also helps that there’s lots of great humor throughout. I love Ore, he’s an absolutely insane protagonist but he works well for this particular series. I don’t feel bad for how he was treated at the beginning, but I don’t think he’d want me to either, I’m pretty sure he got a hard on from being betrayed by that woman and her boyfriend. I mean that’s not stated directly but based on what we know about him it’s probably true. I also love the Goddess as well, in fact she’s probably one of my favorite Goddesses in an Isekai. She’s honestly maybe up there with Aqua from Konosuba and Ristarte from Cautious Hero for me but for different reasons. She’s extremely stoic and deadpan, which I generally really like, and she’s super adorable. Her and Ore are where basically all of the comedy comes from. I mean yeah there’s the various reincarnations, but they’re the cause of the reincarnations to begin with, so it still all goes back to them. They have great comedic chemistry. I was overall pleasantly surprised by this one. In a sea of generic, boring, dull, shitty, cliché Isekai, this one stands out above the crowd for being funny and unique.

I enjoyed this anime, but it was also a bit disappointed by it, which I think comes down to the series giving me the wrong expectations. Episode 1 gives us a young boy named Minato Kusunoki, who lives with his grandfather, and can see spirits. One of these spirits is Zashiki-warashi, the ghost of a young girl and he quickly becomes friends with her after she steals his snacks. They develop an extremely wholesome brother sister bond. However after the first few minutes of the episode we cut ahead to the modern day, and she isn’t seen at all. Instead the cast is filled with ... a bunch of other spirits that he interacts with. And I like these spirits as well. They all have unique, fun personalities, and there’s quite a bit of good humor and the wholesomeness never decreases that much. But I do wish she was more of a recurring character. After the first few minutes of episode 1 the only other time we see her again is during a few minutes in episode 8, which is again a flashback to his childhood. It’s stated that she lived in that house longer than Minato’s grandfather, which implies she’s really old despite how she looks and doesn’t age physically, so maybe the author thought it would have looked weird or creepy to have the MC grow up but still hang around a character that looks like a child, but there’s ways that could have been handled tastefully. But like I said, despite that, I still enjoyed this anime. It’s nowhere close to being a masterpiece, but it’s wholesome, somewhat funny or humorous, and likable.
