Nisekoi is a masterpiece that tells the story of childhood promises and young love through Raku, Chitoge, Kosaki, Marika, and Yui. I believe it is one of the greatest romantic comedy manga ever created.

Some people criticize Nisekoi because, as the story progresses, more girls develop feelings for Raku. However, I do not think that alone is a fair reason to dislike the series. What makes Nisekoi special is how it balances its lighthearted school life at Bonyari High with the emotional journeys of its characters. By developing these elements side by side, Naoshi Komi paints a beautiful picture of youth and the unforgettable memories that ... come with it.

Another aspect I truly appreciate is the manga's creative presentation. The interactions between the bonus pages and the main story add a unique charm that makes the reading experience even more enjoyable.

As the story enters its later stages, the characters undergo remarkable growth. Faced with difficult choices and complicated emotions, Raku, Chitoge, Marika, Onodera, Tsugumi, Shu, Ruri, Haru Onodera, and many others each make decisions that shape their futures. Rather than running away from their feelings, they choose to confront them honestly. That emotional maturity is one of the series' greatest strengths.

Just as cherry blossoms have their own unique beauty as they fall at five centimeters per second, Nisekoi moves forward at its own gentle pace. It gives every character a chance to express the feelings hidden within their hearts, weaving them together into the story that is Nisekoi.

I feel fortunate to have experienced this manga through its official Vietnamese release. It brightened my final year of high school, and waiting eagerly for each new volume became one of the happiest parts of those days. I was a little disappointed that the Haikyuu!! collaboration bonus chapter was not included in the Vietnamese edition, but that has never changed how much I love Nisekoi.

Nisekoi is the first Manga I have read that made me wish that MAL subdivided ratings with a 0.5, because I would probably give Nisekoi a 6.5 if I could. There are a lot of fun and sweet moments throughout the series, and all of the characters are fun. On the other hand, it doesn't feel like Nisekoi ever really achieves its potential with it's premise. The series centers around two teenagers who are both the children of Yakuza gang leaders. Unlike say Spy X Family which never lets you forget that they are a Spy Family, while reading Nisekoi it is very easy to ... forget that the main male main character and one of the female main characters are the children of Yakuza leaders. The art style is broadly okay, but sometimes has insane jumps in quality for special panels. A lot of the jokes in the series are not constantly reinforced or referenced, so it makes it kind of difficult to understand some of the jokes if you read the series inconsistently or while reading others. The series is also really, really long for no particular reason aside from Shonen Jump wanting it to run for a long time (I'm guessing). Bottom line: I enjoyed my time with Nisekoi even though it took a while to read. I don't think it made me a better person or gave me a reason to reread it, but I felt like reading it was a pretty good use of my time. Also, in my opinion the best girl did not "win", but the epilogue chapter was fun.

It is remarkable how it was added to give the narrative a "something" because on its own it could not stand (and indeed, it does), plus it remains a patch to cover a huge hole in the wall.

And that hole is the lack of interest in all those additional elements to the One Shot, because again, the length has been treacherous to it. All the main characters (i.e. Raku and the girls) are simple, they don't have a base complexity to have a long development from A to Z, more if they have it to go from A to B. Each girl is a characterization of common 2010s archetypes and lacks any other element that would distance them in the subgenre. Again and for the last time before I keep repeating, it's valid for a short story, counterproductive if you intend to make it longer.

The best of Nisekoi ends when Chitoge realizes his feelings, that evolution I mentioned (from A to B) happened at the school festival, a good segment, drama, comedy, romance, everything the work aspired to be in one moment, unfortunately it didn't have 20 more chapters left, almost 200 to go.

And despite the fact that in other works can defend the excessive length shielded in how the school environment is fun, Nisekoi lacks that teenage charm because it is more focused on their love entanglements, of course, is not nonexistent, we will have the school festivals, doubts about the future and farewells. But they were only isolated chapters, not a context; the school is only close in the experiences of the secondary/secondary characters and if it happens in the protagonists, it is directly inferred to some misunderstanding of the heart.

The arcs of each character is the development that would have gotten them to have more aspects apart from their relationship with Raku, end up serving only to lengthen, because in terms of exerting a change, they are only in alternate areas that basically, we were not interested. They simply lacked that depth to suddenly acquire interest; an attempt to make them genuine where they end up the same as they were.

Simplicity was their best card, and it is the one they tried so hard to get rid of without giving anything in return, on the other hand, where it would have been positive to have subtracted if it was maintained and even densified, clearly referring to Raku and Onodera. Of which too much has been written so it is not necessary to go deeper.

A positive example of what is a good character arc is Shuu's little story with his teacher, it only lasts a couple of chapters, it doesn't undo the simple characteristics of his character nor does it try to make him excessively complex, it's just giving him another layer related to the central theme of the manga, feelings and how we relate to each other taking them into consideration.

Its ending would come to be this lesson only after being so stretched out that it's like a parody of how it should have been.

The art is genius, the double pages are especially beautiful, a pity that the character design is a bit simple, which explains why little has transcended the leading girls. Komi sensei has a good eye, or at least a good advisor, on how to manage action scenes, even without having reviewed his other works, I hope he has decided or is in the production of a more action-oriented manga, even as an illustrator.

Instead his management of pacing is uneven, for both fully action-driven and plot-driven scenes, though it may just be another inherent symptom of the extended story, where the chapters should have been finished sooner than they last.

You can get carried away just by the flow of the situations and still, you will feel that something is missing, if you get to be somewhat involved with what is presented, whether it will be even more oppressive to you as what had captured your attention gradually ceases to be so even though it seems to be the same, or maybe it simply stopped having that shape you thought it had from watching it so much.

Es notable como fue agregado para darle un “algo” a la narrativa porque por sí sola no podría sostenerse (y ciertamente, es así), más sigue siendo un remiendo para cubrir un enorme hueco en la pared.

Y ese hueco es la carencia de interés en todos esos elementos adicionales al One Shot, porque nuevamente, la duración le ha sido traicionera. Y pese a que en otras obras puede defenderse la duración excesiva escudado en cómo el entorno escolar es divertido, Nisekoi carece de ese encanto adolescente porque está más concentrado en sus enredos amorosos, por supuesto, no es inexistente, tendremos los festivales escolares, dudas acerca del futuro y despedidas. Más sólo fueron capítulos aislados, no un contexto; la escuela sólo es cercana en las vivencias de los personajes secundarios/secundarios y de suceder en los protagónicos, es directamente inferido a algún malentendido del corazón.

Los arcos de cada personaje es el desarrollo que habría de conseguirles tener más aspectos aparte de su relación con Raku, terminan sirviendo sólo para alargar, porque en lo referido a ejercer un cambio, sólo son en áreas alternas que de base, no nos interesaban. Sencillamente carecían de esa profundidad como para repentinamente adquirir interés; un intento en volverlas genuinas donde terminan igual a quien eran.

La simpleza era su mejor carta, y es de la que tanto intento en deshacerse sin dar nada a cambio, en cambio, donde si hubiese sido positivo haber restado si se mantuvo y hasta se densifica, claramente referido a Raku y Onodera. De los cuáles se ha escrito demasiado así que no es necesario profundizar.
Un ejemplo positivo de lo que es un buen arco de personaje es la pequeña historia de Shuu con su maestra, sólo dura un par de capítulos, no deshace las características simples de su personaje ni intenta volverlo excesivamente complejo, sólo es darle otro capa relacionada al tema central del manga, los sentimientos y cómo nos relacionamos unos con otros teniendolos en consideración.

Su final vendría siendo esta lección sólo que después de haber sido tan estirado que es como una parodia de cómo debería haber sido.

El arte es una genialidad, las doble páginas son especialmente hermosas, una lástima que el diseño de personajes sea un poco simple, lo cuál explica porque poco han trascendido las chicas protagónicas. Komi sensei tiene un buen ojo, o por al menos un buen consejero, en cómo administrar escenas de acción, aún sin haber revisado sus otros trabajos, espero se haya decidido o esté en la producción de un manga más guiado a la acción, así sea como ilustrador.

En cambio su administración del ritmo es irregular, para escenas completamente guiadas a la acción como las concentradas en la trama, aunque puede que sea sólo otro síntoma inherente a la extendida historia, donde los capítulos deberían haberse terminado más pronto de lo que duran.

Puedes dejarte llevar únicamente por el fluir de las situaciones y aún así, sentirás que algo está faltando, de llegar a estar algo involucrado con lo presentado, si te será todavía más opresivo el como lo que había captado tu atención poco a poco dejar de serlo aunque parece que es lo mismo, o puede que sencillamente de tanto verlo dejó de tener esa forma que tu creías que tenía.
