Synopsis

Ageha has always been a timid girl, but ever since she met Kagari—a strange student whom no one else seems to see—things have started to get worse. While her classmates treat her like she’s disturbed for talking to herself, Kagari stays by her side, protecting her and telling her over and over again how much she loves her. However, what Kagari understands as “love” is far from human, and little by little, Ageha begins to lose the ability to distinguish between the people and the strange creatures surrounding her.

⠀A beautiful blend of the gruesome, the sweet, and sometimes the comedic. The love a monster can offer is messy and unsettling in its departure from common sense, but it can also be the most comforting. Especially when you’ve grown up isolated and dehumanized your whole life, eyes free from human judgment are the only ones that see the “grotesque” in you as something beautiful.

Impeccable art as always, full of lively movement and expressiveness, capturing every emotion of the characters. Kuzushiro has unlimited potential as an artist, and I hope they keep releasing work like this for a long time to come!
