The manwha is enjoyable but very generic. Nothing more and nothing less of the same concept, same characters, and same storyline we’ve seen so many times. However, I will say that despite the story being the epitome of stereotypical, it’s a solid read for two reasons: the distinct main character and “comedy.”

To note on the comedy real quick, it’s corny/silly and ruins any tension that might have formed; though, that isn’t a bad thing since it makes the story a fun read, steering from the tense/serious route some manwhas may take; it is more comedy based than plot is what I interpreted the story ... as.

Now onto the characters, the protagonist is reasonably “evil—” he doesn’t go out of his way to cause harm to the innocent but only does the necessary evil to benefit him. Instead of being edgy, the mc actually has a purpose to act as a d*ck sometimes, which is quite refreshing to see. But, all good characters also have a negative attribute, which is the ungodly amount of overpoweredness. Not once in this story had I ever felt the emotion of “Oh sh*t, the mc’s f*cked,” because of his plot armor and ability to get all the benefits from life.

I’ll briefly touch on the side characters since the review is getting a bit too long, but just know that they are shallow, one dimensional characters. They don’t serve much purpose and have a static personality while not getting much screen time. They aren’t all bad though since they do make the story flow better, but the limited screen time makes this story into a solo centered and op mc.

The manwha is a solid read but also nothing ambitious (kinda like the manwha, I forgot its name; I think it’s called Leveling of Solo ?).

PS: I forgot to talk about the art, but it’s pretty upper echelon for the type of style it’s going for.

And there it goes - the last two days I had a great time with "After Ten Millennia in Hell". With 65 chapters now, the first season is through and even though I had a good time with it, I don't think I'll keep reading.

Let's start from the beginning: "After Ten Millennia in Hell" or "Player Who Returned 10,000 Years Later", under which name I had read it, is about a person who fell into Hell through a rift between dimensions. At some point he gave up going against the rules of his new world and fought his way up to Demon King, destroying the ... Demon Lords who had been fighting for millennia and gaining a vast empire, subjects and power. But even in his state, where he is neither really human nor demon, he really doesn't want to live in hell anymore - especially because the food is horrible! So he uses his abilities and gets back to earth, where he was only five years away. But in these 5 years not only some things have changed, also such a stupid organization tries to make the earth to hell and thereby steal his food...

If I had to sum up my impression of "After Ten Millennia in Hell" really briefly, it would probably be 'exactly what you'd expect from a story like this'. It's a slightly more brutal story of a guy who rapidly raises the ranks of the players - the people who fight the monsters that have appeared in the last 5 years. What he does, he does well - but not best, perfect or excellent.
I find it extremely difficult with this story to find an argument why I would recommend him over other manhwas. The translation quality is high, we don't have a standard "I love everyone" protagonist here either, the bastard we get instead is fun, the jokes and horrified faces of his enemies are exhilarating. But unfortunately, it lacks that certain something with which it would stand out. Instead, "After Ten Millennia in Hell" combines many, entertaining, tropes in a healthy way, but it doesn't go beyond that. If you want to see these tropes - even in this combo - I could recommend some other stories that do a better job and are so more brutal, funny, action-packed....

I would like to express real criticism only insofar that storylines are teased again and again, which could really enhance the manhwa, if not even make it unique, but otherwise are not continued. For example, the first chapters are not only by far the most entertaining because his demon minions are droll, but they also try to follow him to Earth, but so far there is no trace of them.
Apart from that, the name is really inappropriate, something like "A human was a demon king but just wanted to eat soup" would be more fitting.

There are very few pieces of media I've consumed that have made me drop them faster than this has.

The MC is an uber strong demon king and ends up in a world with a levelling system and his powers sealed, but despite that he's still real strong compared to everyone else as he's able to devour fallen enemies with his gluttony skill, and now in the new world he works as a hunter of monsters and travels through gates to fight in dungeons. It's your typical isekai plotline and I've watched plenty of those and enjoyed them, no judgement there, but doesn't that sound familiar? ... Where have I heard this before? Oh right, it's Solo Levelling with TenSura elements, but bad. I'm not about to claim that authors can't use the same tropes as each other, but if you're gonna' do it at least make it unique, with this the most interesting part of the story, him climbing the ranks in Hell, has already happened and we're just dropped in expecting to be on the MC's side, when we know literally nothing about who he is already in a story that we weren't privy to, that's like starting Sword Art Online with the Aincrad Arc already over and expecting the audience to sympathize with Kirito with zero knowledge of who he is and why we should care.

The MC is a spoilt brat that does nothing but complain about his admittedly highly privileged position the whole time and is unreasonably nasty to the demons who are just trying to help him, but most importantly he has one of the lamest traits any character in any story can have; he's h0rny on main. Literally the second he sees a girl he loses his mind and proposes to her, and when she shows him gratitude for saving her by taking him to her place for food, his language suggests that he assumes that something is going to happen, and I'm sure you don't need me to elaborate on what that "something" he's thinking is. He JUST met this girl, and he thinks she's going to thank him like that?? Degenerate MCs that treat the female characters like objects for their own satisfaction are the worst kind, I have no respect for any author that writes them.

Do yourself a favour and skip this, read Solo Levelling or watch/read TenSura instead, heck even Arifureta is better than this.
