| Can't imagine this working as a stand-alone OVA, there's no plot whatsoever and nothing to attach you to Baki to, but in the context of the series and revisiting, this it's quite good. I'm watching this after episode 16 of the first anime series, and the shift in brutality of the fight was a lot here. Although it seems a bit inconsequential since baki just gets restored by the "best doctors in the world" lol would probably have been more interesting to see him deal with the consequences, but also it's just way too early in baki's journey for him to have to deal with the consequences so... it was good though, classic 90s OVA look, great soundtrack, some cool looking shots and smooth animation. It's really just two fights, so again, stand-alone I don't think i would have liked this back in the 90s. But I guess that's also not the point of an OVA. why would you watch this if you hadn't read baki back then in the first place? |
