Yes, I had to look up a summary of the game's events before watching the movie. I was warned about the whole thing by my wife who jumped from the series to the movie 20+ years ago without having an idea of the game's existence and that understandably affected her opinion of the entire story.

You're likely already aware but the movie is part of a couple of the recent Super Robot Wars games and I believe those make a better job of explaining things better than the movie itself did lmao.

Yeah I plan to watch those at some point. I've been on a journey to explore mecha for a few years now and I'm honestly quite fascinated by the genre. It's so much fun.

I did watch Nadesico already and enjoyed it a lot. Though all the bullshit behind the movie being a sequel to a never-translated Saturn game was really lame.

I discovered Terayama through some friends of mine from Letterboxd, I'm a huge film buff and I still need to watch more of his work admittedly, I've really only watched Throw Away Your Books and Pastoral but I love them both dearly with Pastoral being in my top 5 favorite films I've seen.

I have not but I'll have to look into them!!!

Since the detailed source wasn't cited, I think the English version probably judged it as unreliable information and therefore didn't include it.

Occasionally, even outside anime magazines, past information about new instances of “helping each other out” surfaces in event interviews and such. So I think there are actually many more instances of people in the industry helping each other out.

I should clarify its less that they "can", rather the perception of publishers that certain series "need" to go along with anime releases, and other entrenches perspectives. The same reason Shoujo are published in Spain or Italy but not in America, simply cause markets over there will buy them in larger quantities. I actually think there is a massive market for this stuff, exemplified by a lot of the recent "Deluxe" volumes (Trigun, Berserk, Hellsing, Vinland, Gundam Origin, Ashita no Joe, etc). Publishers clearly are realizing in the last few years, but i guess im speaking more from the pre-covid state where readership was statistically declining relative to other media formats.

That's a good observation, and perhaps just simply comes down to the rarity of which jews would ever marry someone who is japanese? im unsure myself. You're right too that there is a bystander sort of treatment of the conflicts generally where they don't tend to place themselves in a relative position. perhaps just a sign of the times, and how everyone has some viewpoint on everything these days. whose to say.
