Glad to hear that. I'm doing pretty well this year, just chilling and keeping up with anime as usual haha. Hope everything's been going great on your end too ~

Happy birthday! :)

Happy birthday! ๐ŸŽ‚

Yo, thanks for the accept! I'm a simple man, i see Feng Shen Ji in favorites, i hit Add xD. Great favorites overall.
Thank you also for the reviews of Blood Rain and the Tong series. More people need to read that Manhwa series, man what a journey it was, very underrated!
Alexanderevealed Jun 23, 1:35 PM
Hey man, thanks! ๐Ÿ˜„ I really appreciate that. I always like putting a little note with my requests since it makes things feel more personal.

And congratulations on finishing your master's! November 2025 isn't that long ago at all, so I'm sure it's still a pretty fresh experience for you. ๐Ÿ˜„

As for me, graduation is starting to feel very real now. I'm finishing up my clinical rotations and then I'll be graduating in August. After that, the big thing is studying for and taking my board exam in September so I can finally start working as a Physician Assistant. It's exciting, but definitely a little nerve-wracking too. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Honestly, I'm just trying to enjoy the process and appreciate that I'm finally at the finish line after all these years of school.

How has life been treating you since graduating? Have you settled into things yet, or are you still adjusting to life after academia? ๐Ÿ˜Š

Hey!!

I hope you had a nice week-end, here it was quite busy, we got the "fête de la musique" (holiday of the music) yesterday, which is basically a concert in each street of the city until midnight, so yeah it was quite loud during that day lol. I hope you managed to finish your course then, if you had motivation this week-end. But either way it sounds good for you as far as you have time to sort things out and that you'll be ready when time comes, I just hope that everything will go smoothly for you once you finally start your job, it will probably give you even more motivation once you're relieved to be done with all of the preparations.

Okay, makes sense then, indeed it's probably better to wait and see, you'll have the confirmation soon anyway as long as there are no issues, but hopefully not :)

Well, I really like the Portuguese PSG players like Vitinha or Neves, Neves even scored this wc, they have a match later today, I hope that they'll win but it should be a easy one. It's funny how Germany vs Curaçao ended up with the same score as Germany vs Brazil in 2014, but well Curaçao is a weak team obviously, at least they managed to draw against Ecuador.
Hahaha sports betting is too risky for me, I just do mock betting and I still fail every time xD I only managed to get France - Irak 3 - 0 so far but that was a very expected score obviously. Anyway we'll see how it goes, I just hope that we will not lose against Argentina once again.

I'm genuinely jealous about your weather, I would rather have rain than the hot weather we have right now, though Scotland might be affected as well by the current heatwave? Right now it's like 40° outside and obviously at home I don't have any A.C, I only have a fan but since the air is so hot, it's totally ineffective. I'm currently melting lol, and I can't do anything outside since it's just way too hot, it will last for a few more days I can't wait for the temperature to cool down.
My internet was disconnected for 3-4 days, at least it's back now and I hope it will not happen again lol. You reminded me that I need to play the Metro games, I have them ready on Steam but still didn't play them yet, either way that sounds good, on my side it's been quite depressing lately, I was supposed to go meet friends in another city today but it just got canceled because on of my friend is sick + it's too hot to do any activity. I've just been staying home lately and that's about it, meanwhile it's not going well at all for some of my family members regarding their health so I'm also worried about that. I hope that next month will be more positive than June so far...
Ashhk Jun 4, 2:07 PM
Yo!

I didn't know these online courses were that stressful but at the same time it made you motivated enough to continue when you saw that you'd get kicked if you didn't make progress, sadly this is what we need sometimes when we procrastinate too much. I hope you managed to pursue them properly since your last message :) Anyway June is here now, so it's time to lock in.

At least you start with a very good basis, you only need to be consistent with the exercises and not eat unhealthy food and that will be good, I have never been athletic so far so if I manage to do it, it will be a first for me, when I was younger I was always so thin no matter how much I ate, now I'm better but still kinda thin for me height I would say, I probably need to gain at least 10kg to be good. Regarding the new job, that's good to hear bro, did you receive the last document yet? Oh okay I see, I'm surprised I thought it would be monthly like here but this is probably what influenced the US to pay weekly, so did you get the confirmation on how often you'll be paid?

Thanks, now I just need to keep up, I did a lot of reviews in French, the thing is that I need to translate that in English next and kinda adjust it to the language, but at least I have almost everything done, it's just that a lot of them are not that interesting because of the show itself, so for some of them I barely said anything or just put too many jokes. Yeah, regarding Harold Lloyd I was just so surprised how funny and well-written this kind of silent film can be. So next there's only the World Cup left for Ronaldo, I bet you'll be supporting Portugal during the event? And okay I see for the miniseries, kinda like Chernobyl then, I'm just a bit lazy when it comes to long movies nowadays, it's just a phase though, but most of the movies I've seen recently were short except for The Dark Knight.

Well, I hope that you managed to get a bunch of stuff done this weekend! I've been kinda the same in the recent days to be honest, the weather was SO HOT last week and now it's back to a rainy and cold one, it doesn't make sense anymore. Anyway I've been suffering from an internet issue and it's been a whole day that I have no internet at home beside my cellular data, which is extremely laggy, I can only watch shows that I have previously downloaded, I hope that it will get fixed soon. Also regarding Subnautica 2, I've been very interested in the game, I actually want to play it but I'm worried about the early game state, I'd probably just wait for the game to be fully released because I used to play the 1st one when it was in early game state and it was SO buggy that it kinda made me drop the game at that time.
Ashhk May 25, 11:29 PM
Hey!!

Well I can only wish you good luck with your online courses, I hope that you managed to get motivated. I also need to do some physical training at some point, I was just too thin for years, now it's gotten much better but I just let things be the way they are without training, I think I will seriously start to do it in 2027 but that's probably just me setting up a date for later because I'm too lazy to do it right now lol. Anyway that's amazing for your full-time job, I hope everything will be fine and I also wish you good luck for this one!

Yup this is exactly what's happening regarding my Japan trip and the memories I made. We will see how it goes in the future, the best is just to be positive and see what happens, but well we gotta do our best to enjoy things as much as possible while we still have the time, especially considering how fast it all goes by...That's also why I need to stop procrastinating so often, just like I said for the physical exercises.

In the UK you get paid monthly and not weekly like in the US right? But well I'm glad to hear that things are stabilizing for you especially financially, it gives you even more motivation to push up and keep up the good things when you now the future is getting brighter and brighter, and you already have something to look forward to when everything will be settled and that you'll be able to repair the tablet!!

I actually started writing some reviews and publishing a few of them, though it's hard to make something long and detailed when the stuff is so obscure that there's not much to say, that's why my reviews are quite short, I will continue and maybe try to make them longer if I find it necessary! (https://myanimelist.net/profile/Ashhk/reviews).
I think silent movies are also good when you want to watch something without being too focused, especially since a lot of them are very good. I watched a lot of movies starring Harold Lloyd recently, and they made me laugh more than most of the comedy I see nowadays, lol.
At least you could see Al Nassr win the Saudi league, well deserved for CR7 :)

Okay, thank you a lot for all the military movies recommandation, I'll check them one by one I think, I'm still quite slow when it comes to "big" movies like this, so I might try to watch one per month I guess? Not too sure if I'll get motivated enough to watch Band of Brothers and The Pacific just because they are series with long episodes, no matter how good it is, the last series I've seen was Breaking Bad I think and it was years ago. Anyway I might start with Where Eagles Dare, then

Yeah I guess a lot of it depends on whether the sequels were conceived as extensions of a world or as chapters of one singular story from the start, just like the franchises where each movie just feels like its own adventure despite the continuity (like Indiana Jones or Pirates of the Caribbean).
But yeah I feel you regarding Sniper, the nostalgia factor is very strong anyway, once you're already attached to a universe you're way more forgiving toward weaker sequels because revisiting the atmosphere and characters already has a lot of value by itself. (That would work for games as well.)

Well, what matters is not how fast/long you finish reading the Hive, but just to enjoy what you read haha.
Most video game movie adaptations are bad anyway so I'm not surprised... That's also why I almost never watch this kind of adaptation, because I don't want to end up having a negative opinion of a game that's probably great just because I hated the movie adaptation. Most of the adaptations I liked/found to be okay were actually cartoons/CGI that I enjoyed purely because of the visuals (like the Mario bros movies).
Ashhk May 2, 3:51 AM
Hey!!

Thank you! It kinda feels surreal to walk like that in these Japanese cities because it's just so different from Europe obviously and you never get used to that, I think the best proof to me that I made the most of my trip to Japan to the fullest is how exhausted I was and how much I wanted to go back home to France at the very to relax but just one day after getting back, I already wanted to go again haha xD I already miss this trip so much and I hope that in the next years maybe I'll have the opportunity to come again..

We'll see how the future will be, but that would be awesome!! Also you made me laugh so much with your sentence "The future is pregnant and we're the fathers of them damn kids coming." I never heard that before but the phrasing is way too good LMAO.

Okay makes sense that you couldn't repair the tablet yet, better wait to be financially stable and then go! Yes, for Solo Leveling I was talking about my own experience regarding following a manhwa weekly because it's the only I read while it was being published, I think? Anyway tell me when you'll start working on the MAL reviews again, I am thinking of doing reviews of very old and unknown anime I watched before, it would be fun to leave a mark on all these entries, I even managed to get the DVDs for a few of them, though since they're unknown most of them are bad, so it would be a lot of negatives reviews, lol.

I used to watch a few D.C cartoons from time to time before but never seriously, though I was mostly speaking about the movies franchise, especially since D.C movies are often made by great and popular directors (especially the Batman movies), Marvel is a bit different as I didn't like a LOT of them but there are probably many more Marvel movies than D.C ones overall. I need to at least try watching all the Batman movies.

Well I understand that some of these high-tier masculine matches can be very stressful, I mean idk if you're still watching the Champions League but PSG - Bayern was probably one of the most stressful BUT also one of the best matches I've ever seen, that was football at its peak. But to be honest I kinda relate and you see that things change very quickly because as I grew up I became interested in sports in general, which wasn't the case before. I used to not care about football at all before and I only got the true passion in recent years, I can say the same for Basketball or even Tenis. There are some sports that I don't like at all right now (for example baseball, volleyball or american football) and I realize that maybe in the next years they'll grow on me and that I'll start being interested, who knows.

Thank you for the full military movie list, indeed I know a lot of them but I didn't watch a lot from the list, the only ones I watched are: Rambo, Predator, Saving Private Ryan and Inglorious Basterds. I'm kinda surprised tbh I thought I would have watched more of them, I guess I'll try to add at least one of these movies to watch each month for the culture. What are the main ~5 movies I should absolutely watch and not miss among these?

I like the body metaphor for this kind of movie trilogy, it makes sense. I wasn't sure about Hunger Games because I had no idea what the sequels were like, especially when I heard that they are still making some new Hunger Games movies even nowadays, but in the end I only watched the 1st one twice which is a very bad way to do it obviously I could tried to just keep up with the franchise and see how the 2nd and 3rd movies were...Though I think it depends on whether you see a trilogy as a continuous narrative or as three films with their own identity, for example this is kinda how I see the Back to the Future trilogy, I often end up rewatching the three of them but I can watch them out of order or just watch the one I want because they work as individual films with different tones and arcs, I think Nolan's Batman movies would be this way too right? While Lord of The Ring trilogy is clearly one long story split into parts, I think the Matrix trilogy is like this as well but I only seen the 1st one, which is probably another mistake by me.

Maybe I should try a memory workout? But at the same time I probably consume so many games, animes, movies etc in a short time that I tend to forget the less good ones, it makes sense to me so I'm not too worried when I start forgetting things haha. I wish I could enjoy some games this way because it's usually much more tiring to play a game than just watch a gameplay of it obviously. You made me want to re-read Battle Royale as well! I watched the movie and read the manga but I always preferred the manga, I actually forgot some elements of it so re-reading it would be nice!

How did you like the Until Dawn movie? One of my friend saw it and hated it, that's why I didn't watch it in the end. I checked your Letterboxd and seems like you saw some other movies since your last message here. I try to keep up with the new movies that came out, I went to see the Michael Jackson movie but as a biopic, it isn't good, it's more of a movie made for fans because half of it is just concerts. Okay I see, well as far as you're progressing in what you want to do it's all that matters, just do it at your own pace, and itt’s nice to hear you’re reaching out more and meeting new people too :)
PolyesterMilk Apr 18, 5:23 AM
I keep telling myself i NEED to read battle royal

cept
i don’t read manga. i also gotta reply to ur message lol
Ashhk Apr 15, 7:59 PM
Hey!! I'm finally back!

I hope things got better for you during that time, as of right now I'm still resting from the jet lag and how tiring the travel was overall, I really liked it, it was sure two very intense weeks, I would say Osaka is still my favorite city and the one I would recommend visiting the most, but there are so many things to see in Tokyo, I still couldn't visit everything lol.

Did you repair the tablet in the end? But tbh I 100% understand especially when you have no confirmation that another one would be as good as the previous one and that you can't transfer everything you already have on the tablet, I mean I would react the same if my PC broke tbh, even though it's becoming more and more outdated as the years go on.

Ohhh okay well this is sure awesome for the Hive manwha, I didn't follow that much ongoing manhwa overall but I understand the vibe, reminds me of when I was following Solo Leveling on the webtoon app when it was still publishing, anyway that would be awesome if you get motivated enough to start doing reviews again, I remember I think I told you I wanted to make reviews years ago but still haven't started yet, I do reviews for myself only but they're mainly short ones and not in english, maybe I could use this basis to do something much better on MAL..

Yup. And well Marvel isn't part of my childhood at all though, I mean I started catching up with the movies when I was 21 or something like that, it won't make a big difference if I start doing the same with the DC ones now, I'm very curious and I feel like they'll be much better than the Marvel franchises.

Eheh well you're probably right, I'm only hearing what people say so maybe I'm wrong and I would actually like the game, I just fear that after some time it becomes empty because of how great the world is, it sounds contradictory but I mean it in a way that it becomes repetitive and kinda souless the more you play the game, though even for games like Minecraft it worked back then, but maybe that's because it was one of the first to make its world generate and expand infinitely.

At this point you almost have to "choose" between male games and female games just because there are too many games to watch overall except if you only follow some specific tournaments or only a club, that's what I do with NBA I just follow what the Spurs do and I hope that Wembanyama will win the MVP title, I think he deserves it, I'm biased because I'm mainly following french athlethes, but he's the one who impress me the most right now.

Okay I see, so what are your favorite military movies then? It's not my favorite genre I would say but I really enjoy some of these movies when they're well made. Well this is funny because I still haven't watched La La Land, I planned to do that very soon. Both The Martian and Interstellar are good but it's been a while since I watched them, I planned to rewatch Interstellar because I only watched it when I was like 13 years old.

Would you say the next movies from the Hunger Games trilogy are better than the 1st one? I mean idk but to me it feels forced to do multiple movies for this kind of "one shot" scenario, that's why I thought it worked better in Battle Royale. I feel like the experience isn't the same compared to playing a game and watching someone play it on YouTube, I mean I enjoy watching gameplays but I often end up forgetting what I saw months later, though when it comes to a real gaming experience it's completely different in my memories.

Did you end up watching movies during these two weeks? And how are you doing overall? I'm glad to be back but at the same time I'm sad that my trip is already over, it was an awesome experience, I hope I will be able to come back in the next years, who knows...
Ashhk Mar 27, 5:14 AM
Yo!!

I understand to be honest, it's normal to have moments like this, long or not, it happened to me before and it will probably happen again, the only thing to do is just rest a bit and see if you can get motivated again, I guess this is what happened to you now. Sometimes it's just better to leave some time and come back stronger haha.

I wish I could lol. I will!! My departure for Japan is coming very soon actually, I'm leaving this Tuesday! If you want some pics or infos you can add me on Discord if you use it, I'm leaving my username just in case "prodaaa"

Sadly it's common to drop shows that are bad/average for the first 10 to 20 episodes (sometimes more, lol), I know they just want to introduce the characters before starting the show but they need to understand that it doesn't make you motivated to continue when the beginning is underwhelming.
Fillers are just anime original content there are created to make the anime longer so they don't catch up with the manga (the reason why most new gen shows are just seasonals and not long-running stuff like back then), since it's anime original most of these new stories are just not on the same level as the ones the author wrote and also not needed to understand all the canon content obviously, that's why most people just skip them.
Be careful though because sometimes it's more expensive to repair the tablet than to buy a new one for some reason, at least here. How is the Hive manhwa? A bug apocalypse story sounds interesting to me!

Skins is also popular here surprisingly, and most people appreciate it, tell if you like it whenever you end up watching the series! For some reason I missed most of the D.C movies and series, actually when I was younger I just didn't watch superheroes stuff so I had to catch up much later, I started focusing on Marvel ones and ended up watching a LOT of them (basically the whole MCU + additional older movies) but never got the time to get into D.C ones except a few famous example (and I still haven't seen the Batman movies lol).

Crimson Desert doesn't interest me that much, I like open world games but I heard the game gets good only after 8+ hours, I don't really like forcing myself to play 8 hours of a game just to start liking it to be fair. I'm surprised you prefer females games over males one but to be honest I just don't usually watch females one, I just saw a part of a match from the 2026 AFC Women's Asian Cup recently but that's all, otherwise I'm hard following the male ones, especially the ongoing Champion's League, I wish for the PSG to win back to back, it would be insane. Otherwise I'm also often going to my city's stadium to see the local clubs play, they're not really good though it's only National level so far but one of the club can be promoted at the end of the season, hopefully. How did you like We Bury the Dead and Warfare? I just saw Project Hail Mary recently, it was actually visually beautiful but I thought it was too much for a "mainstream" audience, I mean it was childish in a way and this is why I felt like I wasn't the targetted audience, but otherwise it was still a very solid movie.

Okay thank you, I'll definitely try to read the I Am A Legend book at some point, I'll try to do it this year to keep my memory fresh for the book to movie comparison. But well, it's hard to make good book to movie adaptations anyway. I just rewatched The Hunger Games 2012 after only watching it when it came out, I used to think it was fine but now after rewatching it I just realized how bad it is compared to the book, sadly.

Well, with this amount of long games you can still play them for years lol, so I agree no need to get a Switch 2, especially that after almost 1 year there are still not that many worth it exclusive games on the Switch 2 except for better performances overall, I mean this is kinda the case for the PS5 as well lol, I would probably wait for the PS6 to eventually come out rather than buying the PS5 now after 6 years. I used to play the Switch on PC through the capture card and OBS as well, it's much more convenient this way, I could also stream my games to some friends, it was so cool.

Hahah, I said that I would start reading web novels in March but in the end I just didn't have that much time considering I'm just preparing to leave on April 1st, so I'll defiintely just wait until I come back and rest, lol. Anyway this month has been nothing special to me, I just couldn't really do everything I wanted to do IRL especially in term of outside activity since I just wanted to chill during my free time and visit some cities I never went to before, but every time I had the opportunity to go something happened or I realized I had an appointment or something else. Didn't even go much to the cinema either except for Project Hail Mary and also a special screening of Blake Edwards' The Pink Panther, at the beginning of the month. And you? (Btw I started following you on Letterboxd)
Ashhk Feb 23, 2:55 PM
Hey!!

Happy new year to you as well! For my part it's been doing fine, nothing too special yet but planning on more things for the months to come, I'm going to Japan this april, so it's gonna be great. What about you??

Regarding World Trigger I was surprised about the announcement because it's probably the first time I see a fairly decent anime being potentially rebooted, I agree with most people, continuing with a new season would be much better than a reboot, I always thought that the anime was fine despite the fillers "issue" (and I don't really mind fillers in general as far as it is not terrible). I usually just watch all fillers no matter what, the only things I skip/play in 2x speed are the recaps that are totally useless when you binge an anime. Bleach had this issue but fillers were hit or miss, the bount arc filler was terrible but the Zanpakuto rebellion one was almost as good as canon content. Gintama is one of my favorite anime of all time as well, it didn't have that much fillers tbh, like S1 only had 20~ out of the 200 eps from what I remember, and Gintama is so random at times that it didn't matter much imo.

It sucks that your tablet screen got broken, it actually happened to me before and that's the moment I just stopped using tablets, now I read everything either on phone or on PC. Sad thing is that I still didn't go back to reading manhwa simply because I kinda paused reading manga/manhwa right now to be focused on watching Hitman Reborn, it's a long 200 eps anime and since they announced either a sequel or a reboot I decided to watch it, so manga/manhwa reading are for when I'll finish it (very soon though).

Regarding Nicholas Hoult I think he's very role-dependent, some roles are clearly made for him and he's actually a great actor, some others not so much. In Nosferatu he had one of the best performances (and made the movie better to me since I actually didn't like it much, unpopular opinion I guess). I think one of his best role for me was in Juror No 2, I actually liked him a lot in this one. In the Superman movie though, he plays well but I think Lex Luthor's role doesn't fit him, I liked the Superman movie it was okay, but idk... he just appeared kinda weird to me in this role.

There are indeed a lot of new movies to watch and this is also what takes a lot of time for me, lol. I'm actually trying to keep up with new cinema releases, I go to the movie theater like one or two times a week, depending if there are a lot of interesting new movies or not. Meanwhile I'm also trying to catch up with popular movies I haven't seen... not to mention all the anime/manga related watch, so yeah it's hard to manage your free time with all of that xD
I actually wanted to watch the 28 Weeks Later franchise before the sequel but I didn't in the end, simply because I just had to watch other movies. I actually did watch I Am A Legend a few months after my last message, though I didn't click with me as much as I thought for a few reasons... First, what I liked the most in the movie was probably Will Smith's performance, I think it worked well with his character and he did good throughout the movie, what bothered me is that it kinda felt incomplete to me, it just felt like a very shortnered version of a scenario with a lot of potential, so I wonder if the novel you recommend is much different? I haven't read it yet, and I've only seen the ending where he sacrifices himself to save the mother and her son for them to escape with the antidote and reach the other survivors. Some scenes worked surprisingly well though like the dog's death and how loneliness is felt in the movie overall. I think I just wanted a lot and I only got half of what I expected.
Also quickly regarding Dying Light: The Beast I tried to test in on my computer a few years ago but it didn't work so I dropped it, the game looked good though, I played zombie games but it's mainly Left 4 Dead 2, playing hundred of hours of this one, I also played a LOT of The Forest, one of my favorite survival game.

I'm curious which other games you used to play on the Nintendo Switch before? I also have a switch but didn't play it for a few years simply because I'm mostly gaming on PC now, I don't plan to buy the Switch 2, I also use the Steam Deck which is actually very convenient. I only played a little bit of Assassin's Creed before but I was never really interested in the franchise, maybe I'm wrong. I'm also just replaying Half Life 1 and 2, I finished the 2 and I'm halfway through the 1 I think.

But yeah for the web novel as I said I kinda put my reading plan on hold for the time being, so I'll resume that soon probably in March.
