Cowboy Bebop
Cowboy Bebop feels like one of those anime that somehow gets better the older it becomes. The soundtrack alone is legendary, but what really makes the series special is the atmosphere. Every episode carries this quiet loneliness underneath the action, comedy, and style. Spike, Jet, Faye, and Ed all feel like people running from something, and the series understands exactly when to let those moments breathe.
What stands out most is how effortlessly it blends genres. One episode can feel like noir, the next a western, then suddenly full sci-fi or comedy, yet it never loses its identity. The episodic structure also works in its favor because it makes the world feel bigger and more lived in.
Cowboy Bebop is stylish without feeling shallow, emotional without trying too hard, and confident enough to let silence speak for itself. There’s a reason it’s still considered a classic decades later.
Monster
Monster is probably one of the best examples of psychological storytelling in anime. Rather than relying on constant twists or exaggerated drama, it builds tension slowly and carefully, making every decision and interaction feel important. The pacing can be slower than what some people expect, but that slow burn is exactly what makes the series so effective.
Johan remains one of the most fascinating antagonists in anime because the story treats him less like a traditional villain and more like an idea. The series constantly asks difficult questions about morality, identity, and whether evil is created or born. Dr. Tenma’s journey works so well because he feels human throughout all of it.
What makes Monster memorable isn’t flashy animation or action scenes. It’s the atmosphere, dialogue, and feeling that every character matters, even the ones who only appear briefly. Few anime feel this grounded while still being this suspenseful.
Akira
Akira still feels ahead of its time. The animation is incredible even by modern standards, but what really makes the movie stand out is the sheer scale and intensity of everything happening on screen. Neo Tokyo feels chaotic, alive, and constantly on the verge of collapse, which perfectly matches the tone of the story itself.
A lot is thrown at the viewer very quickly & honestly that can make a first watch a little overwhelming. But that confusion almost works in its favor because the world feels unstable and difficult to fully understand. The political unrest, psychic abilities, biker gangs & body horror all blend together into something that feels unique even now.
Tetsuo’s transformation remains one of the most iconic downward spirals in anime. Beneath all the spectacle, Akira is really about power, corruption, isolation & a society destroying itself from the inside out. Few anime movies have had the same level of influence on the medium & it’s easy to see why after watching it.

I was also honestly really intrigued that you had put Drama Queen up there, I think you are the first person I've seen to have it in their faves? I was keeping up with it weekly but ending up losing track of it around the hunting for Lily♪ arc, along with many other SJ+ titles. How has it been recently? Is Kitami still the true protag or has it switched again?
Congrats! I'm really happy for you, when is your board exam?
Pokopia is awesome, and the Switch 2 also is. In which region are you right now?
Oh, wow I didn't know you were a seasonal watcher.
As for myself, I've been replaying Super Mario Odyssey, t's a game that sends peace to my soul, definitely one of my favorites of all time. I have also been playing Sonic 3 & Knuckles.
ah damn, so the exams arent over yet huh. well it's september now so i hope it's been going well lmao and being done w school definitely must feel nice!
have u been able to finish any of ur spring shows since then? and are u thinkin of trying out jaduugar as ur first summer anime? yeah now we're approaching the fall season even lol
and that's very true, but honestly when i look at the seasonals there is just so much stuff that it's easy to overlook something. i think compared to like 10-20 years ago there is way more shows coming out in one season
At least you’ll never run out of shows to watch lol. I’m super behind on a few shows in the summer and it’s already almost over…jaadugar is a pretty neat historical fiction anime…we definitely could use more of those. And after watching more draw this then die, it’s becoming one of my favorites this season!
I used to binge a lot back in the day, but now I it’s kinda hard for me to do it. It’s pretty bad when I begin to fall behind on a show, because it’s hard for me to get back into it
Nice! I need to go back for a lot of spring shows myself, but that goes for every season of anime lol, there’s always so many I miss weekly that I want to check out later, but I only have so much time lol. But yeah once again, best to take it at your own pace and don’t worry about the time when it was new moving on.
I like finishing a previous work, before going to the next XD otherwise I might have to many open projects, which will stress me out toooo much.......
HxH is really nice! I am one of the fans who really likes Hisoka xD I love how "free" he is... he just does his thing, and doesn't care about others. I wish I could go on with my life like he does... but not completey... I don't need his uuh.. yeah xD
Nah, I've learned to drop a series if I don't feel like waisting my time.
It's indeed impressiv xD but... I feel weird? I was watching Anime during break at work, and I skipped Lunch... now it feels weird to go and eat with others, so I keep sitting at my desk lol and skip lunch
Did you got time to watch it tho? It's abit over 2 months since I got your message >_<''
I might need to instal the offical MAL app, because I think there you can write comments to each other,
since I am not always on my laptop, just occasionally.
Haha, well you definitely watch anime at a faster rate than I do, that's for sure!
Yeah, funny enough I watched GITS Stand Alone Complex when I was younger and didn't understand shit lmaoooo, I just liked it based off of vibes, so I rewatched it when I was older...much more enjoyable overall lol.
Hahaha life to watch, that's a pretty good alternate name for it tbh. Shit's never ending. And every time a season ends, I add to it even more lol.
Been watching grand blue season 2, and im doing alright, wbu?
Omg I started re zero a few days ago lol, we have to talk about itttt, im on ep 3 so far so not that far in but I’m loving everything I’m seeing especially the concept and his power
Yes I think she’s really interesting, I love characters like her and bakugo, where they start off mean and get redeemed as the story goes on, bakugo more so than agott lol
Yeah i haven’t interacted with it at all so I can go in blind lol but one my new friends is obsessed with monster and it’s his fav anime so i think I’ll watch it sooner rather than later haha
Ooooo those are some really good ones, have u finished any of them? And or started any new animes?
It’s all isekais lol, ascendence of a book worm and tensura are the one I’m watching for this season but the anime that I’m super hooked on rn since i started it two weeks ago is one piece lol, I’m on ep 80 already, have u watched it?
Ps.again I’m really sorry for the late reply:)
Agreed, and there’s going to be a couple of canon movies coming too so the wait shouldn’t be too long in between.
We got to see the best of Shamrock this time around, I’m guessing. The last couple of eps feels like it’s trying to just end right before an interesting development but the Loki backstory should be interesting!
what are you watching from those two seasons?
good luck with the exam!
Oh, I see. LMAOOO 😂😂, if you end up thinking Jaadugar is bad, I honestly won’t know where to hide, I’d be so embarrassed lmao. But yeah, we’ll see.
Yep, I went through the most eventful summer of my life so far, but the worst part is that it ended on a bitter note… But oh well, I can finally relax now, and yeah, I hope we’ll catch up on everything we’ve missed! Even though I don’t have the energy to watch as many anime as I used to anymore.
Agreed! Especially since a lot of gamers out there feel that the traditional visual novels are really just about pressing A. 🤣🤣🤣 By the way how do you feel about visual novels that also double as RPGs? I remember there was a game called Period Cube on the PlayStation Vita that had this sort of aspect to it. 🤔
Definitely check it out, if not there is also an anime version that might peak your interest. Either way you can't go wrong with its story. Yeah tell me about it, I can't believe it's been so long in the PlayStation Vita still hasn't gotten the game. And this is from the creator of Mega Man, so you would expect better. 😭
