Even if you normally only watch classics, ISTG, you must watch link click (start with season 1 of course). the sci-fi time travel mystery and characters and everything are amazing, and the animation is insanely good especially now in season 3. Season 1, 2, bridon arc, then current airing. Its so good. If you like deep sci-fi mysteries and stuff you'll love it. It's amazing! It deserves its studio-ghibli-movie level score lol

I kinda already went through main recommendations and classics, I didn't catch up with "newer stuff" though (like, the last 10 years of anime), but I really like alternative and avant-garde stuff, and when I really like a director I go checking everything they did, and there are tons of directors that did tons of music videos so I was watching because I like the director, but I usually end up hating the music and giving it a low score because of that haha (there are some directors my like/dislike ratio ended up pretty bad, I liked one main work but not the rest), I also logged everything I could remember having watched as a kid, and nowadays I'm way more critical about shounen stuff, I also picked some later because of friends insisted and I have this problem of keep watching even though I don't care much about the series, so I kept watching movies and new seasons of stuff I give low scores too, so that's why my average is so bad :P

It has been some time since I last watched anime for real though, a few years already, been focused on other stuff, just from time to time someone bumps a thread on some anime I left "on hold" (couldn't find online when I looked for it, but someone found it now) and I watch it, usually some avant-garde shorts... and shorts, it's hard to curate, you gotta watch and they are hit or miss.

So I'm not planning on watching any anime right now, but Psycho-Pass I loved the first season with the same intensity I hated the second :P
As for Death Note, after reading the manga I couldn't watch the anime, the anime is so dramatic, the directing kinda looks like an Indian soap opera, for him to write a name they gotta show him from 10 different camera angles with zoom shots and the camera shaking and dramatic music, it wasn't for me, the manga though pretty cool.
