Promising as a coming-of-age story about a teenager making friends, but it completely falls apart as a romance. At this point, almost any isekai makes more sense than this. They seriously need to stop making these trend-chasing stories about some loser nerd... just stop. Stop making the socially awkward guy who spends his life staring at the ground suddenly become irresistible to two gals just because they happen to like the same anime. Even fantasy and fiction need some level of internal logic

So ends what is probably my favorite romcom of spring 2026.

My only gripe with this show is the MC. I feel kinda done with this sort of "shy "nerd" with low self-esteem and low self-worth"-MC, but at least Otaku-kun is tolerable. I'm glad he recovered on his own this episode - if the girls had found him sobbing in the toilet I would've been genuinely annoyed.

Other than that, have no complaints. It's cute, it's pretty funny, Ijichi and Amane are both S-tier waifus, the art is great, the pacing is good, and it looks like we're heading towards a polyamorous relationship between the three, which I in this case fully support (harems can be a bit cliché or forced most of the time, but here it feels "natural".)

9/10. Hope we get a S2.

ehhhhhhh was hoping to give this a 9 but only an 8 in the end because that last episode was way too hammy and forced.

I could acknowledge a guy in his situation would have a bit of a doubt and worry about the future of their friendship, but his reaction (to basically nothing) was way too over the top

Kinda like eating sponge cake. It's quite fine at first, but then it becomes kinda meh after a while.

I didn't expect any sort of development for the final episodes, but deep down I wanted to see something more than just doing circles around the status quo.

Like many have said already, it's okay, but more than likely I'll probably have a hard time remembering highlights of it once next season begins.

Otaku ni Yasashii Gal wa Inai? is a solid, above-average romance, even if it isn't top-tier. I've never been a big fan of love triangles or the 'choosing a girl' trope, despite understanding the drama it creates. It's not a groundbreaking anime, but it’s still a pretty decent watch.

this was a nice little show to follow, bit lame he didnt end up with either of the two. or you know, actually get them both. maybe it could be seen as lazy, but ive never seen a show do that.
the girls did start to get feelings for him so i expected them to "fight" over him, but they kinda just knew both of them liked him and left it at that :P

And that's a wrap. It's a great adaptation for the most part, only some rough moments here and there, but overall it has been great.

I can't help but feel like Akane's in the lead and Ijichi has been pushed to the side often throughout the season.

Hopefully there's a second season.
8/10.

Damn, Shion witnessed the unlimited potential of girl x girl action and will never be the same again. F

Nice finale, although a bit melodramatic with Otaku-kun feeling insecure about his closeness with the girls despite everything they have experienced so far. Anyways, good thing he recovered on his own and managed to express himself in front of them. Scene with all three of them holding hands while listening to the fireworks was a lovely way to conclude this school festival arc.

Pretty enjoyable show overall. Definitely more entertaining than expected and featuring some impressive production values during key moments. Ijichi and Amane were great girls with remarkable character depth despite the waifu-bait front and Otaku-kun ended up being a really likable dude who didn't feel like a weak link when it was time for them to interact as a trio. Not the best display of chemistry between characters ever but I certainly found it rather charming and cute.

7/10 - Would be nice to have another season of this. If only just to see if the author really has the courage to go down the three-way relationship route with their protagonists.
Oh! And of course, more Sayu would be pretty welcome as well.

Ngl, I enjoyed this anime more than I anticipated. I'm really happy I picked it up.

Shion drooling over Amane x Ichiji is so real bc girl me too.

I love how the season ended. I personally wasn't expecting the 3 of them to hold hands, but I absolutely love that they did. I love that Seo admitted that he loves both of them was really cute. all the characters were easy to love and were all unique. I'm gonna miss this one a lot bc it was easy to follow 8/10 for me. I just don't picture this one as a romance so 7/10 but the artstyle was a huge highlight of this anime!! ED and OP were also great

this is probably a really hot take but I really don't think this show needed to be a romance, much less an indecisive harem

the concept and themes are adorable, and something everyone especially us weirdo nerdy weebs can get behind. The idea that even the popular gals can be kind to us lowly nerds, its adorable right? If this anime was just Seo learning how to make friends from the girls and them learning more about him and his otaku culture it would've been so peak, but it just feels shallow when both of these quite trope-y girls fall in love with this guy and then he pulls the "I'm so into both of you I can't ever decide!" and its like man holy self fulfillment self insert slop, I feel like Seo barely grew from episode 1

I use those terms in exaggeration of course, its not a bad show at all, and it did have some genuinely really good moments, like the sleepover episode for example, it had REALLY good visuals for a romcom and a nice soundtrack too, I wish I vibed with it more than I did

Totally agree. If it was gona be “romance” needed more development in S1… this whole friend status quo pseudo harem stuff sucks. Started off strong in the front half, and thought we might start seeing some development one way or the other after the festival episode then the back half of the season was just maintaining the odd friendship and closeted love between these three… 6/10, soft 7/10.

This anime was so good, the scene with the fireworks and all the confessions were so nice, the yuri joke was kind of played out with Shion. I hope we get a Season 2 so we can see more of their relationship the whole series was all together one of the better Romance Anime I've seen this Spring Season. it felt so refreshing to see an Anime with multiple love interests where one isn't totally annoying Otaku meshed with both of them so well.

If there is a season 2 I hope we can see more of them hanging out and more of their relationship I also hope they can build more of the side characters since we didn't receive a whole lot of other cast which in a way is nice so we can focus on the main relationships.

Goodbye youth. I have watched the top 300 rom-com anime in 5 years, and now I am 25 and graduated from university. Due to financial issues, I never had the courage to get a girlfriend, but these anime never let me feel lonely. Thank you to all the 600+ anime who were with me for the last 25 years. From now on I have to get busy in the real world. Wish I could keep watching anime for the rest of my life, maybe with someone who also likes anime. Although the chances of me getting a happy future are very low, maybe in another universe. Take care, everyone. Sayonara to the shonen arc of my life.

If this is how it ends, i have zero details to complain of. Just plain friendship is completely fine, i can easily tell i am jealous of the main character, could obviously understand him in his most depressed thoughts, and still he broke his barrier and had a sweet ending with both the girls, equally as likable as him for different reasons. One of the moments that worked the most was talking to him about a Kiramon rare item and immediately noticing something was off because of his unusual reaction (or lack thereof), and one more is how both were so unenthusiastic both on stage and at the supposed meet and greet, as a clever way to point out celebrity in bigger or smaller amount isn't all that exciting.

8/10, didn't enter this series with pessimism but it still turned out to be better than expectations and my second favorite of the seasonals anime i watched during the last month. Ok, they were just four and Akane-Banashi is too high to reach out, but still good on its own merit and thankful even if there won't be a second season. And... i'll repeat, what a cool, cool opening song.

I honestly think this was the best finale for the season we could've asked for, with this show being one of the more lighthearted this season I was so genuinely happy with the ending. Also the animation is fire whenever they are doing the run scene.

Pretty good first season overall, the characters were really good and well developed somewhat at the expense of the romance which definitely took a back seat for the most of the show.

We will see if it gets a season 2 that will turn in the more outwardly romantic direction but as it stands this show really felt more like a very wholesome guy girl friendship for the most part. The mc being a very genuine and sweet guy added a lot that and overall he was a pretty standout protagonist considering the typical bland mc's we see in the genera. The girls were both great both in character designs and personalities and I really appreciate the amount of time the show had given to fleshing them out.

The ending was pretty decent about the noncommittal season 1 ending you would expect in a love triangle.

Overall 7 or maybe even 8 out of 10.

Most inconsequential ending i've experienced in a long time.

This series felt pretty hollow to me since nothing really happens but it has some wholesome parts that saves it from being trash.

Honestly had a hard time ending this series because it was so boring at times, but the blonde saved the show, 6/10

Honestly my fav romance this season, with beautiful visuals, great animation and a wonderful voice actors, you can definitely tell this show was getting a lot of love just from the OP and ED alone. Im honestly surprised that they decided to give this show so much love since i expected it to be just your cheesy and cliche rom com but instead i was given something better and it honestly blew my expectations out of the waters.

Although side characters are pretty weak in terms of the ones that are in the school, id say the lil brothers and sisters were honestly more important here than the other classmates lol. id say the only problem i have is of course the very cheesy parts especially by the end and some pretty sus moments like the sleep over, but overall at the end of the day it is a power love fantasy anime, and non logical moments were bound to happened but that honestly what makes it more enjoyable in the end lol.

What i like the most would prolly be the progression and the development of the 3 mcs relationship, and so far by the end of ssn1, it seems theyre on the point of more than friends but less than lovers, although id say ijichi is mainly the one that realizes about her feelings for Seo, so id like to see more of how will Amane deal with her feelings for him in the future.

PLZZZ JUST GIVE ME A SECOND SEASON ALREADY. This show is honestly a guilty pleasure of mine but im not too mad at it as it is very enjoyable to me and i would to see more in the future. Although, id love to see more development of the mc, as he only somewhat got a development by the end here and i hope to see him get more confident in himself not only as a friend to the 2 girls but prolly more to his other classmates. But as of now, id say the girls definitely carry this show hard. Very enjoyable, hope to see another seaoson.

solid low-mid 8/10

Even though it was a quite unrealistic self insert show for an introverted otaku, it was pretty good. I really liked all the cute and wholesome moments between the main characters. Thought Amane had better chemistry with the MC than Ijichi due to their shared hobbies. But Ijichi might be better for him if we consider the opposites attract and complement each other's strengths concepts. Though I personally liked both girls equally.

I'd love a harem ending for this series but it's highly unlikely to happen cuz it's set in the real world and not some isekai. Overall 7/10.

I'm good with it. Not choosing one over the other for now works for his character. I hope in the end he does choose and that he chooses Amane. Mutual interests and similar personalities goes a long way. Ichi just has so much to her and in her life that would make him so uncomfortable all the time. Either way though without a Truck-kun intervention I don't see how he will choose.

Wish fulfilment anime ended the way everyone hoped and knew it will end, them all together holding hands by the end of the episode.
A great series, it felt alive for some reason. In a way I was expecting boredom to show itself from the middle part of the show, but no, it kept getting better, glad I picked it up.
A low 8 this anime gets from me, but if they all don't get together by the end of the story I know there will be a riot, after all as I've started the comment, this is a wish fulfilment anime, so them all together isn't that hard to imagine and want.
