@Brockemsockem yeah this reboot overall was a crazy fucking trainwreck of cringe, shit quality in all departments and abysmal writing and directing, an absolute clusterfuck, and i have no idea how people like, let alone defend it, its an absolutely soulless corporate reboot slop, and yeah, its literal horror, both in what it is, and worse, the realization of what kind of people we share a world with, people that'll watch something beautiful die and will cheer for it, not because they're evil (though some are i guess), but because they don't even understand what's happening, just see a moving picture and cheer.
@mkzxwing "Corporate" is a really good way to put it, thank you for saying so! You're the only one I've seen scrutinizing things accurately from the very start. I mean, maybe I'm old or something, but entertainment and media's been really bad for awhile, now. It almost seems like there's almost no philosophy or even reasoning behind what's happening anymore? It's shocking, and somehow, there's still more episodes to go.

@Brockemsockem It feels like they are trying to do redemption with some of the gungho guns (midvalley and leonof) but the problem is 1. we haven't been given a reason to care and 2. these two deciding to stop fighting vash and being shown getting along with children really has nothing to do with anything.

I guess these two chose to obey Knives because they fear him and want to live (legato mentions that followers will live, unlike the manga), but other than that there isnt much to it... this means leonof and midvalley dont really have much reason NOT to get along with vash or the people at Home. It's not even made clear if they ever really did many moral crimes in the first place that would require them to make amends.

In the manga, vash killed people leonof loves and he therefore seeks revenge. This is a recurring thing Vash is faced with and emphasizes that even though it was against his will, vash did kill real people. I think it is important that the story emphasizes the real world harm Vash did, even though it was against his will. Vash choosing to love humanity despite being regularly misunderstood and beaten and bullied is what makes him such a strong vessel of hope. I really wish they didnt skimp on this detail because it feels super weird even just on a logical level that there are not more external consequences for July.
@Loozard I have never read the manga, but yes, that already sounds a thousand times better than what we're getting. Why wouldn't Stampede/Stargaze simply adapt from better received material? Although almost a good development, it makes absolutely no sense that suddenly CHILDREN are peachy with people like Leonof, Midvalley, or even Wolfwood; these people are horrifying, nightmare monsters. It's like the writers felt like they didnt have enough time to develop an actual theme, and instead just threw in more horror and action. Milly and Meryl have nothing to do, either, and they're presumably supposed to give us the human perspective.

Additionally, Knives was always a complete villain, but now he's not even sticking to his most basic character motivation. Now he betrays and uses Plants, too? You can't redeem this character now. There's nowhere to go with any of it.

The fight was spectacular, but honestly, Livio stopping Razlo could've been way better

@Brockemsockem Any time. And yeah corporates take everything to shit, usually either making the 'safe bet', which always translates to recycling what worked in the past, meaning a complete death or originality, and overall a sterile feel because they remove all but the elements they consider made the show (or product for other corporate fields) successful... Or take stupidly bad advice from investors who try push various (usually political/socio-engineering) interests and not an actually good product. Sometimes both. Either way, almost anything going corporate has any innovation and freshness die out really fast.

And the problem with no philosophy and reason is more of a social one i feel like, its going on everywhere across all media and fields of life lately, complete nihilism, void of meaning garbage coming out of everywhere. Kind of why i couldn't get behind the cyberpunk anime hype and love, and a bunch of other new shows that don't really have any point to them, just pure depression or faffing about doing nothing for no reason and calling it a story somehow, despite having less to say and show than even a lot of slice of life shows lol

Which is not to say there's no good stuff coming, there totally is, gachiakuta for example was a real surprise for me lately, even if i was not too big a fan of the story over all the shounen elements slowing it down and taming it out... The high quality art and fluid animation despite the high detail character designs, the overall fresh look, the really original directing/writing and way the interactions and story twists go.. That alone is super praiseworthy.

Wolfwood vs Livio was pretty good but that fake death scene really got me I genuinely thought he was about to die until he just pranked everyone lmao, that was surprisingly really fununy.

Nicholas I thought you were going off to find the one piece for a second here. Glad he's staying in Trigun.

Fr though I forgot his full name was Nicholas D. Wolfwood and I was like wait wtf he's from one piece?

Ok, now I can truly say this anime adaptation has no teeth.

The battle was greatly animated, but it's peak point... was an energy blast duel? Dis is no dragon ball, but OK, I can diggest it because Wolfwood's last attack was great even if it also didn't make sense (bullets shouldn't just fire like if were somekind of fireworks fuse)... but then, he just didn't die; welp, I guess this series pacing is just that fast and we can let Vash go thought a second mind meltdown.

I'm speechless. This was terrible beyond words. The characters are empty, the fights mean nothing and there are no consequences for anything. I feel like an edgy 12 year old could have written a better script than this. I loved the first season but I don't think I can withstand another episode of whatever this is...
