case for time loop is that kaworu said it in the movie he is looping for eternity and shinji said to rei he will not rewind time

case for multiverse is that asuka here is a clone while on the original tv series she is not so the asukas are different hence different universe

so thoughts? voted i do not know for now

I think it's a mix of both, it seems likes it takes place after The End of Evangelion, but the story goes in different way at certain point. So probably it's like the stories of Devilman Saga, every time a story ends, the universe reset and a new one starts, with different story and different characters

if its both then maybe the time travel works like in summer time rendering with many worlds interpretation aka multiverse and time loops

@DoctorWho4224 time loop does not mean every events are the same though some time loop stories changes every time the loop begins like in the case of summer time rendering

That would be a casual loop if it’s unchanging so yes you are correct.

I guess it could be a time loop technically.

Is Devilman Crybaby a sequel or multiverse? In my opinion, it is neither. Crybaby frequently references the old anime, as if the characters have watched Devilman. This breaking of the fourth wall serves to appeal to longtime fans, and the same is accomplished with Evangelion's references.

@Lucifrost It's pretty obvious that Eva is a loop, or rather a series of resets, its the same characters, on the same planet, in the same world, in a cycle, cycle that Shinji stops at the end of this movie. After the End of Eva happens, an additional world is not created, its the same world just recreated.

I know people watched too much of MCU and want everything to be a multiverse nonsense, but sometimes it's just not.
