it’s one of the most mature, emotionally rich anime experiences out there. If Season 1 was a shout of anger, Season 2 is the quiet after the storm—where you realize what that shout cost you.

If I had one wish? Maybe just a bit more background score to elevate emotional scenes even further—but that's nitpicking.

Great ending and definitely had me excited the final few episodes, but this was quite horribly paced. Absolutely could have been a 12-13 ep cour. Still an epic series, but not the best presentation.

Semi spoiler ⚠️ ⚠️ ⚠️ ⚠️ ⚠️ ⚠️ ⚠️

S3 has the most action and easily the best arc in the series. Can't wait to see this animation and with the manga ending within these next months (unless we get 1 chapter every 3 months) there should be an announced release date soon right?
But still no update on season 3.

Animenin tek iyi tarafı 24.bölümü. Yani bitmiş olması, diğer bir husus içine sıçıkları bir seri olması. Yok köleymiş, yok çiftlikmiş, savaşmayın sevişin tarzı bir anlatıya girmeleri saçma. Nesin sen Gandimi. Yani 3.Bir sezon gelse dahi içine sıçacaklar.

ngl an unexpected season ending, was hoping for some sort of development like old thorfinn but now he’s become stoic and let everything go. So far the season was a real drag, more about character development than action of narrative development. Hoping for a balance of action with thorfinn rather than character development.

This show is not for everyone. The entire redemption arc of Thorfinn is the main highlight of the 2nd season, and it pays off so well at the end that if you have liked this theme of the show, then it's quite possible that you might not like other shows ASAP. It has many similarities to Naruto Shippuden's core theme, i.e., Realism vs. Idealism, but the way both shows present the MC as an Idealist amongst the horde of Realists is really a treat to watch and simply inspirational.

Cannot wait for the 3rd season, although it will take many years to come!

PS:- The conversation between Thorfinn and Canute kinda reminds me of the conversation between Pain and Naruto.

What an anime. Who thought striving for peace would be so compelling. Thorfinn was truly an amazing character. Probably a top 5 character for me. First half was at times for me boring, but second half was peak. Had tears when Thorfinn met his family. Fantastic 9/10 anime

This is a beautiful change from regular animes today and instead of the regular getting revenge story, it is a philosophical journey between hatred and forgiveness. Plus I think Thorfinn is a great character. The manga is incredible as well. READ IT. This is one of the best seinen pieces of media out there. If you like this show, also try reding vagabond and berserk.

While the first season was more shocking, this one was more reflective. I ended up liking it quite a bit, the change of studio was good, and I liked the art style of this part more. They made a point of showing marks and scars to demonstrate the tragedy of slave life, especially Arnheid's.
I also found it interesting that they had the former king haunt Canute, it was a clever move to make him lean to one side, while also contrasting with the light emanating from Thorffin.

I'll check out the manga, I'm curious to see how the adventure to Vinland goes.

This second season was so much better than the first one. I really enjoyed it and the premise for what is about to come is wonderful. This will be a long and hard journey I guess.

After all this time, Thorfinn is finally back home. Considering he left when he was only six, it makes sense that he was met with a lot of scepticism and hesitation from the people there. He’s basically a stranger to them at this point.

It’s a quiet but meaningful moment, seeing him return to a place that should be familiar but no longer really feels like home in the same way.

What a great anime. I do admit I missed the action at times, but the character development this season was on another level. Watching Thorfinn’s growth from who he was into who he’s becoming has been genuinely incredible.

Fantastic anime. While there's some shortcomings here and there (like the skipped reunion between Leif and Thorfinn a few episodes back), I think everything else very much makes up for that. I haven't read the manga, so I can't speak on the quality of the adaptation, but as its own thing I think the anime really great.

Initially I would have been fine with another season like the first (action-focused, perhaps Thorfinn shifting his focus from killing Askeladd to killing Canute, etc), which is honestly what I was expecting, but I'm so so so glad it turned more towards introspection and Thorfinn's growth/struggle. I came into this show knowing literally nothing other than that it's good, I didn't even know it was about vikings hahaha. People seem to keep mentioning wanting Season 3, so if it happens I'd be thrilled, but I also think this season still ends in a nice, open-ended way that still feels satisfying.

I haven't had a show make me tear up so consistently as this one has in quite a long time. The directing, cinematography, and musical scoring was so impactful. One particular moment that really stuck out was the end of Episode 17 when Gardar dies. The way it ends with an overhead shot of Arnheid and Gardar being surrounded, plus the piano score over top. Damn. Many other episodes were amazing as well, so I won't keep listing them for the sake of keeping this shorter lol.

I don't have a ton to say critically of this anime, mostly because I was watching it more for enjoyment instead of deeper analysis. I think they did a great job depicting Thorfinn's PTSD, depression, and other struggles, and I was impressed by the impact they managed to give to all of those sorts of scenes. I'm not religious, and was worried at one point it was going to go in super heavy on Bible passages, but thankfully it did not. Yes, there's a focus on religion, redeeming oneself, and I'm sure parallels between Bible stories that I'm just not aware of, but I was just worried that at that point in time it was going to get overtly preachy, if that makes sense. Regarding other issues I had, like I mentioned before, my only real complaint is not showing Leif and Thorfinn's reunion. Other than that, I think this show is absolutely worth a 10/10.
