The shame the Nishimiya family must have felt involving someone else. I still feel for them.

"If you can't keep your brat in line, then you shouldn't have had her in the first place!"

This line is unforgivable. I can't stand Ueno here. She has NO idea on what it feels to be a parent, and especially the parent of a child with disabilities. What parent would WANT their child to be disabled? She's just thinking of herself and her own perspective, not taking into account others' or others' feelings.

Why didn't Yuzuru do anything? Was she too shocked? Her explanation is not good either. What do you mean you weren't sure if it was right to stop her? Of course it was. Her reasons might have some justification but her actions didn't. Since when has hitting, kicking, slapping, hurting, humiliating a disabled person or ANYONE for that matter for YOUR own pleasure or venting YOUR own anger ever right?

That one panel haunts me. The one where Shoko signs... "I want to die." It struck me, that this was her in ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. At most, she was around 12, but I think she wasn't even 12. And she's already thinking about death...? How horrible can life be for someone that even while they're still children, they want to die? The same scene from the movie wasn't as deep or long but it haunted me, and this scene now haunts me too. Just makes me want to lash out against everyone who bullies her and makes me want to help her.

The ending though. She looks really beautiful with her hair tied behind in a ponytail like that. But her face, it was that of determination. Her expression, it seems she's made a big decision. After some painful hard-to-read chapters, I hope the next chapters are going in a positive direction.

So Naoka's finally lost it. Miyoko staying with her at the end was annoying, though. Girl, she was just completely OK with ending what flimsy thing you call a "friendship", not to mention that she also bullied you, is not showing remorse for it, and is still bullying you! I'm getting fed up of Naoka's attitude and the fact that people still let her hang around them. She's an awful person who doesn't deserve forgiveness if she doesn't see how her actions are affecting those around her. Someone mentioned it before, but in this aspect it does feel like the manga's running around in circles.

Poor Yuzuru, she's dealing with so much and tried her best to make Shouko feel loved.

When Ueno said "doesn't that make me the same as... That woman? [Shōko's mother]", it hit me that Ueno and Shōko's mother really are similar. Both initially wanted Shōko to be strong and stand up for herself, both went too far to do so, and both resort to violence when they feel someone has wronged them. They are both straightforward to a fault, which is why they end up hurting others with good intentions. It's nice to see Ueno being so self-aware here; hopefully this will trigger some growth that keeps Ueno's honesty and directness but with some added degree of sensitivity and empathy.

Speaking of Shōko's mother; after Yuzuru's explanation of the photos, she realized that Yuzuru too carries the burden of protecting Shōko, and says "I'll help." When she observes Yuzuru's crying that quickly stop upon her gaze being noticed, she also realizes that she deprives Yuzuru of emotional outlets. This chapter might be the first time she cared and cried for Yuzuru instead of Shōko.

In the past few chapters, characters finally learned about each others' struggles, be it through conversing, fighting, or Shōko's suicide attempt. These are not exactly clean ways of communication, but really, they were the only ways of communication available in this mess that was all started because one girl and one elementary school class could not communicate. This should begin a change for the better.
